Playing without an account
You do not need to provide a name, email address or password to play. Game progress is saved in your browser. We also use Google Analytics to understand visits to the site, as described below.
What stays in your browser
Chainle uses local storage to save your unfinished games, scores, answers and completed receipts. This makes it possible to resume a table after refreshing and calculate your personal statistics. These records are not synchronized between devices.
Local storage remains until you clear it, remove the site’s browser data, or your browser removes it. Private browsing and storage restrictions can prevent records from being saved. The game keeps up to 400 completed receipts for its statistics.
What happens when you check a word
Your browser sends your submitted word, the puzzle identifier and the round number to Chainle’s answer-checking endpoint. The server uses that information to calculate the score and return the round’s explanation. This application does not write submitted answers to a database and does not send them to an external AI service.
As with a normal website request, the hosting infrastructure may process technical information such as your IP address, browser details, requested URL and request time for delivery, reliability and security. Browser-local storage does not make a network request anonymous.
Fonts and sharing
Fonts are served by this site. Sharing a receipt copies text to your clipboard only when you press the copy button; the game does not send a message or publish your score for you. The shared text contains the score and puzzle date, not your answers.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how people visit and use Chainle. Google receives page-view and usage information from its tag. Analytics may set first-party cookies, such as _ga, to distinguish visitors and sessions. These cookies are separate from the local storage used to save your game.
We do not add your guesses, saved answers or game receipts to analytics events. Read Google’s Analytics cookie explanation and Privacy Policy for more about its handling of data. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
Clearing your progress
Open your statistics, choose “Manage my saved progress” and confirm that you want to clear the collection. This removes Chainle’s own local records from the current browser. You can also use your browser’s controls to clear this site’s data.
If the game changes
This page describes the features currently included in this version. We will update it when the way the site handles data changes.
